What a loft conversion is
A loft conversion turns unused roof space into a room you can live in — a bedroom, a study, or a bathroom under the eaves. The work is structural as well as decorative: floor structure, roof alterations where needed, a proper staircase, insulation, fire safety, windows or dormers, electrics, heating, and finishes that meet the rest of the house.
What UrbanRise can undertake
We convert lofts from agreed drawings so head height, stairs and structure are settled before the roof is opened. A conversion with roof windows is a different job from a dormer that changes the rear elevation; the drawings need to match the house.
The staircase has to land in the right place on the floor below, meet regulations, and leave the existing landing usable. That belongs in the conversation from the start.
Why people ask for this
Another bedroom or a quieter workspace is often cheaper in the roof than on the garden. Lofts hide constraints — tanks, chimney stacks, rafters, party walls — until someone has been up there. If head height, structure or stairs cannot work, we say so at enquiry rather than quoting work that cannot be built.
How to enquire
Send the address, what you want the loft to become, and any survey or drawings. A visit is usually necessary. Where planning or a lawful development certificate is required, that sits before a start date. Building Regulations apply in any case. We discuss protection of the house below and how the disruptive stages will run for your actual scope.
